Mississauga, we are YOUR team.

President's Greeting

2015 in full swing. I have rolled up my sleeves and endeavour to tackle all challenges ahead. There are big plans ahead: working on big functions, making the club ever more visible to the community at large and continuing to build up Hansa Haus's solid foundation. I will work hard to open our doors wider and continue to work relentlessly to enable this cultural centre to be in the best possible shape for our future generations. Perhaps you would like to join us as either as a new member or volunteer. If you are interested, go to my page on this site and contact me directly!

About the German Canadian Club Hansa

Serving as a cultural centre, the German Canadian Club Hansa was founded in 1958 as a not-for-profit organization in a small restaurant in Brampton, Ontario. It was born of German immigrants who were eager to embrace their new lives in Canada and contribute to the richness of Canada's multicultural fabric. The goal to integrate and contribute to the Canadian society, while preserving and sharing what they cherished of their homeland, inspired the forefathers of the German Canadian Club Hansa to form the cultural centre as we know it today.

The German Canadian Club Hansa has been an agricultural, physical and cultural landmark of the Brampton/Mississauga topography for as many years as the citizens and visitors to these regions can possibly remember.  2013 marked the Club’s 55th year in operation. Attendance of the fabulous anniversary gala included distinguished members of the community, including both the Mayor of Mississauga and the Mayor of Brampton. Today, the membership has swelled to more than 550 members. Open to all members of the community, the facilities that have been built by the members of German Canadian Club Hansa are now enjoyed by countless other individuals, groups, and major corporations of all facets, to celebrate their own milestones year after year.

With a wealth of events Hansa Haus seeks to engage the public and open this cultural centre to the outside. As a result, the Hansa Haus community now includes members from all walks of life – some German, some of German ancestry, but also people who simply share an interest in the German culture and its significance in Ontario and Canadian history as well as those who simply enjoy the facility and its events. Besides people with German background, the Club also has active members of Ukrainian, Italian, Portuguese, and Filipino background, among others.

Whether you are interested in becoming a member or taking advantage of the fantastic facilities this German Cultural Centre and its over five decades of membership has built, we invite you to explore our website and the versatility of our services and venues. We hope you will visit us again soon to continue with our tradition of family and celebration and let us help you to create your own extraordinary memories.

Please enjoy the site, and be sure to let us know what we can do to accomodate any special requests you may have for your event or join us for the many festivities we host throughout the year!  Be sure to check our events page to see what's in store this year.

We are in the home stretch for a truly great year. Just recently Robert Gutwein was re-affirmed as Club President with overwhelming majority vote. In an effort to be even more transparent and approachable, A president's page has been created that we invite everyone to visit. He is always looking forward to getting feedback and is keen to hear fresh, new ideas to help grow this club for future generations. Visit his page here.
